The Samoa Rugby Union introduced the 10 A-side series in 2008 with the intention for the Smoke Free Youth National Rugby 10’s Series to be included as a permanent fixture in the SRU Calendar of events. 

The intended tournament has been implemented to further strengthen its 15’s strategic programme, by addressing the following factors identified by the development and High Performance Units. 

• The lack of competition and continuity during the Pre-season period.
• The lack of players actively involved during the Pre Season period. 

The Samoa Rugby Union also sees the need to mobilize its Tight Five programs and considers the Smoke Free Youth National Rugby 10’s series as conducive in improving fitness levels for the Tight Five Forwards, who seldom participate during the 7’s tournaments.  

It is with hope that teams will embrace this tournament, with the intention of furthering its Rugby Prowess for the betterment of Samoa Rugby.
