Upolu Samoa players prepare for match against Fiji Barbarians.

09/05/08 - The Le Vai Upolu Samoa Head Coach, Fepulea’i Selefuti Patu has named a strong squad to travel to face the Fiji Warriors in Fiji.

“The Fiji Warriors will be hard to beat especially at home. However, we want to be in the Grand final and if we’re able to pick up the win then we’re be very happy.”

Upolu Samoa has managed to hold onto in-form blindside flanker, Ofisa Treviranus, while Uale Mai has been selected to take up Sevens duties for the final two legs of the iRB World Series. Mai's absence gives Saul Luamanuvae another chance for more game time with an eye to the Manu Samoa trials.

A newcomer to the squad with a big future is Jacob Tomasi. An exciting player whose aim is make maximum use of any opportunity given.

Upolu set for Pacific Rugby Cup thriller at Apia Park PDF Print E-mail
05/05/09—The IRB Pacific Rugby Cup is set for thriller as Top-of-the Table Upolu Samoa hosts the winless Fiji Barbarians in Apia this Friday. The match promises to be a thrilling affair as it brings together two teams with varying fortunes mid-way through the competition.

Upolu Samoa will be under pressure to maintain its unbeaten run nearing its aim to repeat last year’s grand final appearance. On the other side, the Fiji Barbarians team is hoping to win back atonement after a first round thrashing by the Warriors and then last week losing to Savaii Samoa at Lawaqa Park.
