Samoa vs Russia Manager Report
Samoa U.20 completed its Third game this afternoon defeating Russia 50-14. Todays win booked our place in the final of the Junior World Rugby Trophy to be held in three days time. Japan topped in pool B after defeating a determined Geogia side in the last quarter of yesterdays last match. Our Captain and playmaker Patrick Faapale came off the game yesterday midway through the second half due to a shoulder and neck injury and is recovering well and hopefully fit enough to play the final. Five other players also suffered injuries and our main target in the next few days is our recovery process so that we will have everyone available for selection in our final match. Our next opponent Japan is very organised, well drilled and have a fit and heavy forward pack. Japan was also undefeated in its pool and was the finalist in last years World Trophy.
Its been a long and tough tournament for these young men, and for most of them it is their first taste of international representations and first hand on experience of the tough reality of playing all these test matches within a three days period turn around. It’s a tough call for all involved especially the players but the team is staying strong and not to loose focus so they could give their best in our last and deciding match Tomorrow night the boys will complete our last legacy programme by performing some Samoan dances before the Holiday Inn Hotel Guest. It is also our gesture to thank them for looking after us since we got here and to present our small gift. We thank you Samoa for all your support through faxes and emails which encourages and motivates us all as we go through this campaign. Faafetai tele lava mo lau tapuaiga, ma e momoli atu alofaaga o tama uma I ou latou matua ma aiga aemaise lau tapuaiga Samoa.
